Game violence
Although there is no gore in the game there is still quite a lot of violence. In this documentary it has evidence to suggest that playing violent games makes the player less scared of real life violence (desensitise) and they have more aggressive thoughts but it also shows evidence that this doesn't mean it makes them more violent as we see by how violence in the US dropped by 83% around 2013, when violent video games were becoming more popular.
In the Documentary there is also some research that show's that brain activity while playing a violent game is more active in the anterior cingulate cortex had higher activity, but they thought there would be more activity in amygdala because they thought it would affect the players emotions which proved to be wrong.
They also found out that playing games actually causes brain growth " We indeed found brain growth, we found increases in the right hippocampus that is particularly involved in spacial navigation and orientating in your world, another part of the brain we found growth was the part which was involved in strategic planning." They talk about this at 49:15 to 52:45 in the video.
Games are also good because they can help people get rid of stress by distracting them from the real world for a bit and they can play the game, if it is a violent game that will help with anger to, because they will put there anger into the game rather than real life.
"What we found was that those who had just played a violent game had less of a physiological reaction to players who had playing a non violent game " To me this shows that violent games make people more used to seeing violence than someone who has never played a violent game, this can be positive in the sense that they will be tougher and less likely to panic in a situation like that so they can think of something to do. But it can also be bad because people might see their actions of violence as no that big of a deal. this can be fond at 12:43 in the video.
